Motorola parts Android – develops its own OS?

The latest hot rumor has Motorola in its sights, as various different inside sources confirm that the company has been forming a new software OS development team, which includes former Apple and Adobe top employees, so that they might soon enough release an original OS of their own, in spite of their currently used Android OS.

Motivating their decision is Motorola’s plan of gaining market share by differentiating itself by other Android-based competitors like Samsung, Acer or HTC. There’s not really too much you can do hardware-like, so trying a different software approach might be exactly what Motorola needs to make their products stand out from the crowd.

When confronted with such rumors Motorola only said “Motorola Mobility is committed to Android as an operating system.” Alright, but this doesn’t mean that they’ll stop developing a new OS for upcoming new generation Motorola smartphones and tablets (XOOM 2?) , while holding on to Android while it’s finished.

A lot of Motorola users have been complaining about issues with the Android OS, namely the XOOM table users who have numerously posted various bugs and issues around the web, most concerning faulty web browsing. It’s not restricted to Motorola either, apparently, since the newly released Honeycomb Android has been reported on the web as being unstable.
